Industrial Power Plant – Ras Al Khaimah, UAE
Marine Pipeline Works & Industrial Marine Infrastructure
Project Overview
This project involved the rehabilitation and expansion of a critical seawater intake system serving an industrial power plant. The work required underwater pipeline repairs, large-diameter HDPE extensions, intake screen servicing, and the installation of marine anchoring systems, executed within a live operational environment where continuity of service was essential.
Scope of Work
- Repair and extension of existing 900 mm HDPE seawater pipeline (156 m)
- Extension of three 400 mm HDPE seawater intake lines (total 828 m)
- Supply and installation of marine-grade concrete anchoring blocks
- Disconnection, cleaning, relocation, and reinstallation of intake & discharge screens
- Supply and replacement of large-diameter seawater valves (630 mm & 400 mm)
- Installation of marine buoys and preparation of as-built drawings
- Disposal of waste concrete and bio-marine materials in full regulatory compliance
Key Challenges
- Execution within an operational power plant with no allowance for extended shutdowns
- Handling and installation of large-diameter HDPE pipelines in marine conditions
- Strict HSE and environmental compliance requirements
- Coordination of underwater works alongside live intake systems
Our Solution
Ocean Marine Contracting mobilized a dedicated marine and technical team to deliver precise underwater repairs and pipeline extensions. Marine-grade anchoring systems were installed to secure pipelines against currents and seabed movement. Intake and discharge screens were serviced and reinstalled to restore full operational efficiency.
All activities were carefully phased and coordinated with plant operations, ensuring uninterrupted service while maintaining the highest safety and environmental standards.
Results & Impact
- estored and expanded seawater intake capacity
- Long-term stability of marine pipelines ensured
- Enhanced operational reliability for the power plant
- Zero unplanned shutdowns during execution
- Full compliance with HSE and environmental regulations
This project highlights Ocean Marine Contracting’s capability to deliver complex, high-value marine infrastructure that works in live industrial environments—safely, efficiently, and to the highest technical standards.
